Founded in 1947, Callahan Brothers has a long history as the most respected mover in Greenwich and surrounding areas. Soon after its inception, Callahan Brothers came under the sole leadership of John Callahan. Through the years, word spread and Callahan Brothers expanded as Greenwich grew, increasing their range of quality services offered. Through dedication, and being steadfast in their commitment to the happiness of their loyal customers, Callahan Brothers would earn the trust their trust for generations to come.
In 2006, John Callahan decided that after 50 years at the helm of the company he would step away, and enjoy the rest that life had to offer. It made perfect sense that former employee Will Joyce (who started a very successful moving company of his own in 1982) take over the company and continue to enhance the reputation that people from Greenwich, Westchester county, and the surrounding areas, had come to expect and rely on.
Callahan Brothers is now a member of the Joyce Van Lines family of companies, still led by Will Joyce. Today, we remain committed to the promise of integrity and quality John Callahan laid the foundation for so many years ago. Our enduring success is owed to our proud local roots, and the people of the communities we serve. Callahan Brothers continues to provide premier moving and storage services locally, nationwide, and beyond.
Our mission and the foundation of our core principles is exceeding our customer’s expectations. Callahan Brothers shares Joyce’s Core Principles which are based on:
Integrity

Elite Fleet for every customer
Your possessions are “our possessions”

Business goes where it is invited and stays where it is well treated.
Upon contacting Callahan Brothers, a moving consultant will help you to determine the size of the truck needed, the best logistics, equipment and pricing. The cost to make a local/intrastate move may be based on the time it takes to load and deliver, or by the weight of your load.
While your Callahan representative will determine the most economical type of pricing for your move, you can be assured that all furniture will be prepared for the move with the greatest care using quilted moving pads, and paper/stretch wrapping on all upholstered furniture.
The cost to make an interstate move is based on the weight of your load, and the distance to your new home, determined by zip codes. The moving truck is weighed before and after your belongings have been loaded to determine the actual weight used to calculate final charges.
Upon contacting Callahan Brothers, a moving consultant will help by estimating the weight of your load, and by creating a cost-effective move plan that includes the size of the truck needed, the best logistics, equipment and pricing.
Callahan helps handle your customs clearances, import/export regulations and consular requirements wherever you need us. With industry leading forwarders and representatives in more than 100 countries, we have the technology necessary to handle your global move.
A Callahan consultant will visit to determine your specific moving needs and have the price quote back to you within 3-5 business days. International quotes do take longer to prepare than domestic quotes, as Callahan consultants must work with international forwarders, coordinate with air and/or sea freight carriers, work with individual country requirements and coordinate with our overseas networked agents.
Callahan Brothers Customer Service team will work with you to make sure every phase of the move, from pack and load until final delivery, is handled with the highest level of service, assuring your total satisfaction.
You have the right to receive an estimate based on a physical (in-house) survey of your
shipment. Under the regulations, your mover must base your estimate (either binding,
non-binding, or not-to-exceed), on a physical survey of the household goods to be moved if
the goods are located with a 50-mile radius of your mover’s (or his agent’s) place of business.
You may elect to waive this requirement for a physical survey, but if you elect to do so,
you must sign a written waiver of your rights.
In all likelihood, you will find that an on-site estimate based on a physical survey
of the items that you plan on moving will be more accurate than an estimate that you
provide to your mover over the telephone or the Internet. So, unless circumstances warrant
(normally due to the time constraints of a short-notice move or because you are only shipping
a few items) think carefully before you elect to waive the required physical survey
of your shipment.
