Intelligent Labor and Moving focuses on your need to get back to normal life once your move has been completed. We work with you to ensure we correctly label each box. We take care to help you categorize and pack your goods so they are easy to find, unbroken, and tidy.

Rates
Our rates are the same as our rates for moving ($130 for two workers, $190 for three workers, $55 per hour per worker over that). We like to keep it simple and keep it consistent. Moving is complicated enough without a byzantine rate sheet!

Estimates
For all pack and move jobs, we do require an onsite estimate so we can make sure we provide you with an accurate quote. We’re also happy to provide different breakdowns for packing. Often times customers want one quote for packing the kitchen and another for packing the rest of their goods. The quotes we provide for packing are for the goods exactly as they sit at the time of the on-site estimate. This provides a real “bookend” for the pack. If you decide to do some packing, just email in a list of what you’ve done and we can write a fresh estimate based on what’s left to be done.

Packing Materials
Having the right variety and quality of moving boxes and packing materials is key to the success of a pack and move. Boxes used by moving companies come in a set of sizes that are standard to the moving industry. Using moving boxes increases the efficiency of the movers when packing as these standard sizes fit well together and make for a more tightly packed load. Also, using real moving boxes ensures that each box has the expected crush rate (the amount of weight that can be put on an empty box before it collapses), which means that your goods will be well protected. We stock all manner of moving boxes as well as other supplies to allow us to properly protect your goods.

Recycling
We recycle almost all of our waste from packing materials. We’re happy to come by after your move and retrieve your used moving boxes, packing paper & stretch wrap. Check our recycling page to read about our recycling and used box policies.

Used Boxes
We stock an assortment of used moving boxes. These are not for sale for packing. For a number of reasons, we always advocate for the use of new boxes for packing household goods. However, we use them for boxing lampshades during transit and cutting boxes up to protect small pieces of glass or mirrors. We also cut them up and tape the cardboard to the face of glass-fronted cabinets after we’ve blanket and stretch-wrapped them. This provides an additional level of puncture protection. And since we get them for free, we don’t charge our customers. It’s good for the environment, good for your belongings, and good for your wallet.

Office Moves
Don’t trust your office move to some fly-by-night moving company that just opened. We can both handle your goods carefully and damage-free, but also quickly and efficiently.

We’re well equipped with an extensive collection of ramps, walk boards, dollies, and specialty equipment. Often with office and industrial moves, you have long walks and odd or bulky items. Being well equipped for those circumstances means a quicker, safer, and more cost-effective move. Moving is more than just a couple of guys and a truck.

Planning is the most important thing we bring to office moving. We work with you to break down the plan into sections. Making sure that we have minimum downtime for each employee, allowing them to get back to work doing what YOU do best. Don’t let moving derail your business. Cabinet Deliveries
We have extensive experience and references for deliveries of cabinets and other goods. We’re able to work with you and your customer to schedule delivery times that work for everyone. Hiring a moving company with household goods experience is key as you don’t want your delivery crew to be “bull in a china shop” at your customer’s home. Our movers already are sensitive to the challenges that come from moving large & heavy goods in a family’s home, in the midst of their living situation.

We’re well equipped with both lift-gate trucks for larger items, but also smaller trucks for deliveries in congested neighborhoods like Beacon Hill and North Boston.

Industrial moves present their own set of challenges that are easy to underestimate. We work with your staff to set up your new location with an efficient and safe workflow as well as keeping downtime to a minimum. We work 7 days a week and are available on weekends and many holidays
