OUR STORY
From one man with a pickup truck to the largest transporter of wood residuals and solid waste in the Northwest, we’ve come a long way in the last 60 years.

In 1959, Bill Walsh Sr. loaded up his pick up truck with samples of hardwood sawdust from a local sawmill and met with the purchasing agent at Swift Meat Packing Company in Portland, Ore. He was hired by Swift to haul the sawdust, bought his first tractor and trailer and a company was born.

Since those early years, the company has expanded through acquisition, innovation and a mindset of servicing the customer above and beyond their needs while always operating the business with the highest level of integrity.

Today, Walsh Trucking owns and operates over 300 tractors, 700 trailers and is the largest transporter of wood residuals and solid waste in the Northwest. We operate out of eight terminals in Oregon and Washington. We still maintain the identity established in 1959 that we are a local family-owned business with strong ties to the communities in which we operate.

​​​In 2002 we expanded to solid waste transportation. In 2010, a 10-year contract with Metro helped us through the recession and allowed us to come out stronger. After a decade of hauling the solid waste from Metro’s two transfer stations in Oregon City and NW Portland to Arlington, Walsh Trucking was awarded a new 10-year contract to continue the partnership through at least 2029, and provide the stability to usher Walsh Trucking into its next 60 years.
