Our History
Founded in 1947, family controlled and operated Harbor Freight Transport Corp. continues to be a major player in the port.
Steve Liberti, president and owner, and his son, Stephen Liberti Jr., have expanded their operations from a container freight station and export-boxing company to call for specialized handling of cargo in the Port of New York and New Jersey.
Harbor Freight’s location in the port allows transport of oversize and heavy-lift cargo to move from the terminals to Harbor Freight’s facility without any permits. Harbor’s trucks never leave the confines of Port Newark and Port Elizabeth when handling oversize and heavy-lift cargo.
Breakbulk is enjoying a boom on flat racks at ports Newark & Elizabeth, and Harbor Freight Transport Corp. has continued to be a choice of shippers, terminal operators and steamship lines in the handling of damaged containers, transloading, bulk commodity handling and the resecuring of cargo that has been refused by the National Cargo Bureau as being unsafe for ocean transport.
Harbor Freight Transport Corp. has participated in numerous conferences in conjunction with the Port of New York & New Jersey, promoting the use of the ports and the services offered by Harbor Freight Transport Corp.

Our many years of experience as a Container Freight Station (C.F.S.) has given us an edge over our competitors when it comes to consolidating cargo, whether project or not, for export.
We offer computerized tracking of all cargo and also offer a dialup service so you too can track your own shipments with ease. Our more than 250,000 sqft of warehousing space is large enough to allow for both long and short-term storage of your cargo. If your storage cargo is vulnerable to extreme weather, our facility contains 120,000 sqft of heated warehousing area
What do I do with my children on moving day?
If you have young children it is a good idea to do the move while they are in school or
daycare. You will be busy with the movers and it will be difficult for you to give your
child the attention he/she needs. It’s a much less stressful day for you if you children
are not home on moving day.
How long does it take to move?
This depends on many factors, such as the time of year, weather conditions, size of your
shipment, time required to load and unload, and the direction and distance your shipment
is traveling.
Because the furnishings of the average household will not fill a truck, it is often necessary
for two or more shipments to be loaded on the same truck. Each shipment is carefully
sectioned off from the others.
With the help of computer-assisted dispatching system, pickup and delivery dates
are scheduled according to the origins and destinations of individual shipments on the trucks,
as well as shipment weight.
