Special Service Freight Company is a multi-location, asset-based, ground freight and air-cargo company. We are headquartered in Charlotte, NC, and have been in business for over thirty years.
Our Mission Statement is “To treat our customers as ‘Primus inter pares’ (first among equals) in a mutually beneficial, respectful and ethical business partnership”.
The Company operates twelve full-service warehouse terminals offering coverage in over two thousand four hundred zip codes centered around nineteen cities in the Southeast. Our major operational and handling hubs are Atlanta, GA and Charlotte, NC.
Warehousing facilities and vehicle fleets are located in five states:
Florida – Orlando, and Miami (who also service Ft. Myers, Key West, Palm Beach and Ft. Lauderdale), – 1171 zip codes serviced.
Georgia – Atlanta and Savannah, – 300 zip codes serviced.
North Carolina – Asheville, Charlotte, Greensboro, Raleigh and Wilmington, – 680 zip codes serviced.
South Carolina – Charleston, Columbia (also services Augusta, GA and Myrtle Beach) and Greenville, – 250 zip codes serviced.
We partner with other quality focused companies to provide another nine full service warehouse locations servicing thirteen cities and fifteen hundred zip codes in the Southeast, including:
Alabama – Birmingham, Dothan, Huntsville, Mobil, Montgomery and Tuscaloosa
Florida – Pensacola
Tennessee – Chattanooga and Knoxville (which also services the Tri-City area of Bristol, Johnson City and Kingsport).
Special Service offers a variety of local and regional solutions for your trucking and warehousing needs, and this includes our own dedicated line haul throughout the Carolinas and in Georgia, and a partner network extending this reach to Florida, Tennessee and elsewhere.
Warehousing
Special Service offers short to medium term warehousing and handling at its larger facilities (detailed below). Subject to prior special arrangements we can also provide access and availability outside of normal business hours. Locations have normal handling equipment and packaging materials on hand.
What do I do with my children on moving day?
If you have young children it is a good idea to do the move while they are in school or
daycare. You will be busy with the movers and it will be difficult for you to give your
child the attention he/she needs. It’s a much less stressful day for you if you children
are not home on moving day.
How long does it take to move?
This depends on many factors, such as the time of year, weather conditions, size of your
shipment, time required to load and unload, and the direction and distance your shipment
is traveling.
Because the furnishings of the average household will not fill a truck, it is often necessary
for two or more shipments to be loaded on the same truck. Each shipment is carefully
sectioned off from the others.
With the help of computer-assisted dispatching system, pickup and delivery dates
are scheduled according to the origins and destinations of individual shipments on the trucks,
as well as shipment weight.
