Troy Peavler began his dream in 1988 when he borrowed his grandfather’s cattle truck to make his first move. He soon realized Harrodsburg and surrounding counties needed a full time mover with appropriate equipment. His grandfather loaned him money to buy his first truck. Linda, Troy’s mother took phone calls and scheduled moves from their home.

In 1990 Troy built his first storage building at 255 Morris Dr. to complement the moving business . In 1991 Troy married his fiancée Julie and she took over manning the phone calls at their new home and at a temporary office. Soon they built 2nd and 3rd storage buildings to meet the demand of the moving business. The volume of the business had increased greatly and it was time to have an onsite office with full time hours. An office was constructed in the front of one of the storage buildings. Through the years the reputation of the business grew and needed more than one truck to accommodate the number of people moving. To keep the personal service that the customers were used to, Troy’s father Tommy and his brother, Eric came into the business to each man a truck. Tommy has now stepped back to do more estimates and Troy’s son Cass now runs a truck. The storage remains to be Troy and Julie’s and is a separate business but is a great asset to Peavler Moving with 247 regular units and 55 climate controlled units for moving customers who need temporary storage. Today it is still truly a family operation with Linda scheduling the moves and Troy, Eric & Cass personally on a moving crew.

T. peavler Mini-Storage offers traditional mini-storage units as well as state-of-the-art climate controlled units that have keypad access to the building and a constant temperature year around. Our premises have security cameras, are well lit and you have 24 hour access to your unit.

Q Should I have the mover come to my home to look at my goods?

You have the right to receive an estimate based on a physical (in-house) survey of your
shipment. Under the regulations, your mover must base your estimate (either binding,
non-binding, or not-to-exceed), on a physical survey of the household goods to be moved if
the goods are located with a 50-mile radius of your mover’s (or his agent’s) place of business.
You may elect to waive this requirement for a physical survey, but if you elect to do so,
you must sign a written waiver of your rights.

Q Is it a good idea to get an estimate over the phone or via the Internet?

In all likelihood, you will find that an on-site estimate based on a physical survey
of the items that you plan on moving will be more accurate than an estimate that you
provide to your mover over the telephone or the Internet. So, unless circumstances warrant
(normally due to the time constraints of a short-notice move or because you are only shipping
a few items) think carefully before you elect to waive the required physical survey
of your shipment.
